On 05/26/19 around 2:20 am Danville police responded to the area of Williams St. and Elm St. in reference to report of a man with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival officers made contact with two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victims were a 20 year old man and a 19 year old man both from Danville. The 20 year old man had a wound to his shoulder and the 19 year old had a wound to his lower back. The victims stated they were getting into a vehicle when they heard multiple gunshots being fired from an unknown location. The victims were both transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening wounds. No other injuries were reported during this incident.

On 04/30/19 around 10:22pm Danville Police responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress with shots fired in the area of Alexander St and Madison St. Upon arrival officers located a victim who was later identified by Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden as 41 year old Terry L. Gaines of Danville. Officers observed that Gaines had been shot and he was unresponsive. Medical personnel arrived and Gaines was pronounced deceased at the scene. Danville Police began the investigation immediately and learned that Gaines was a pizza delivery driver for Dominos Pizza. Gaines had just delivered a pizza to an address in the area and witnesses saw him walking back to his vehicle when two male subjects approached Gaines and tried to rob him. Witnesses stated they observed a brief struggle between the victim and the suspects and then shots were fired. The suspects were last seen running westbound from the area. Suspect #1 is described as a male black subject who is approximately 6’00 with a slender build and was last seen wearing a black jacket or sweatshirt with a hood. Suspect #2 is described as a male black who is approximately 5’09 with a slender build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. No other injuries were reported during this incident.

On 04/23/19 around 6:17 pm Danville Police responded to the area of the 800 block of Sherman St for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers located a 33 year old Danville man who had suffered a gunshot wound. Medical personnel arrived and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The name of the victim is being withheld pending the proper notifications by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office. Witnesses stated that after the shooting a male subject wearing a black and white sweatshirt was seen running from the area. The Danville Police Department is continuing the investigation into this incident and is attempting to identify anyone who may have been in the area when this incident occurred. No other injuries were reported during this incident.

DANVILLE- On 11/22/18 at approximately 1:51 a.m. Danville Fire Department was dispatched to 14 Nicklas for a report of a house on fire. Upon arrival firefighters were able to extinguish the fire that caused an estimated $1,000.00 in damages.
On 11/24/18 at approximately 7:43 a.m. the Danville Fire Department was dispatched to 14 Nicklas again for another fire in the residence. That fire caused an estimated $30,000.00 plus in damages to the home. Both fires are believed to be suspected arsons.
